Is this my heart,
This half-moon boasting brightly
Above the bay that binds
the waters of your world together.
I surrender to the sunset as my
course
Abandoning the dark-east for the journey home
and I wonder at the waves that willfully
reflect the sunset and moon simultaneously
and know no contradiction in their loyalty.
But I, half-hearted half-moon that
I am,
am but a dull reflection indeed
How marvelous the caress of the waves on the beach
washing my feet with your salty tears
for the sin that would separate us
save for your sacrifice
The realization of your
determination
of the coming and going of each wave
and the thought of you assigning a number
to each grain of sand on this endless beach
amazes me.
How great the nature of you?
Who can stand to see
the smallest portion of such glory?
For the truth is this glory is yet nothing
compared to your grace in saving us?
What kind of God can create all
this
to give it to those who betray him
then give the creator Himself
for the chance to redeem these traitors?
How great thou art!
How is it I don’t run to you?
How is it that my heart is a half-moon?
Yet I praise you that it is not blotted out entirely
Let me turn to you and reflect you fully
until the day we meet face to face.
Half-Moon
